“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17

Our deacons disperse the donations received to various church funds (see below) as well as to other ministries outside of our church that we support. Donations can be made in person on Sunday during worship services or via e-transfer to jordanhrcdonations@gmail.com.

We support:

The primary responsibility of the DOC is to oversee the HRC denominational domestic outreach responsibilities in North America. The DOC is responsible to prepare and forward to Synod recommendations regarding the opening, maintaining and closing of denominational domestic outreaches, it is to ensure that pastors’ salaries and benefits are handled appropriately and charitably, and it is to prepare and communicate a budget to the Synod. Funds are to be distributed through the Finance Committee (FC) of the Mission Committee (MC). The DOC solicits denominational support when the need arises, and shares news from the outreaches with the denomination through the mission publication Glad Tidings, etc.

The Denominational Fund assists in costs incurred not by our individual church, but collectively by the churches in our federation. For instance, as students from our denomination’s seminary travel to preach at our various churches, their travel expenses are covered by this fund. Other travel expenses such as the practice of “church visitations”, where members from each of our churches visit others of our churches to see how they are fairing and offer brotherly counsel. When various denominational committees need to travel to perform their duties, this fund is also used. Expenses incurred by our annual denominational meeting (Synod) are also covered by this fund. Another larger expense covered by this fund is the travel expenses of the denominational church correspondence committee, which sends a group of delegates annually to the NAPARC (North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council) meetings. In short, any expense that is incurred not by an individual church in our denomination, but for purposes relevant to the denomination as a whole, is funded by this means.

As HRC ministers approach an age commonly accepted as “retirement age”, the Emeritus Fund Committee is there with its own funds and support to ensure that as our ministers desire to or need to retire they are sufficiently cared for, as well as their wives and children. All HRC churches contribute to this fund.

The Gospel Trumpet ministry seeks to spread the good news of the gospel by means of distributing transcribed and printed sermons, publishing them on their website, and broadcasting sermons by Dr. Joel R. Beeke on radio stations in Michigan and California.

Together with Vineland FRC and Immanuel URC, the migrant ministry reaches out to the many Spanish-speaking migrant workers who come to the Niagara region every year for employment. The ministry organizes Sunday evening bible studies, weekly English classes, and many other events during the year. The ministry is led by Wilf and Sharon Bout and supported by many volunteers.

The purpose of the Heritage Reformed Congregations missions program is to glorify the Triune God, by proclaiming the message of salvation alone in Jesus Christ throughout the world, in order that lost sinners might be reconciled to God in Christ by the Holy Spirit. A South African theological seminary and a mission post in Sumba, Indonesia are some of the efforts this committee and its budget support.

Special collections beyond the ones above may occur from time to time, and further information about them will be supplied in the bulletin or from the pulpit at that time. If you have any further questions about any of these funds, do feel free to contact one of the deacons.
